Three-car collision closes highway near Rockland September 3, 2010

Police have closed County Road 17 in Rockland between the Laurier Street and Edward Street intersections following a three-vehicle accident around 2 p.m. at the Pigeon Street intersection.

Four people are involved in the accident. Ambulances and highway rescue crews were dispatched but no fatalities are reported. Three of the people have suffered injuries but none are believed to be life-threatening.

A Ford Taurus was westbound on the road when it went out of control and hit a Toyota Celica. The Taurus also hit an eastbound Jeep Liberty.

Police are detouring traffic at the Laurier and Edward intersections and also at the Laporte Boulevard intersection away from County Road 17. Cause of the accident is under investigation.
